Abita Fall Fest begins tonight, and you don't want to miss a performance by Tab Benoit during night one. Abita Fall Fest is celebrating its fifth year with big performances and new additions to the festival. With a new Cuisine stage to host even more artists, you'll have the opportunity to see almost 20 performances.

DIG interviewed festival co-founder Karen Moses recently about what goes into creating a festival in South Louisiana and the new things attendees can expect.

The fall fest kicks off October 11 at 5 p.m. with performances beginning at 5:30 p.m. from No Limit Brass Band. Following will be a performance by Pontchartrain Shakers and a closing performance from Tab Benoit at 7:45 p.m.

Co-founder Karen Moses shared with DIG, "Some of our local bands, we pulled directly from these events and our own group hub. Some of the bands we picked this year have new albums, and we thought it’d be great to showcase these bands like the Abita Stumps, the Pontchartrain Shakers, Soundtrack Era, and Tab Benoit– They all have new albums. "

Activities

Kids can enjoy the Kid Zone at the festival, where they can do face painting and bead crafting, immerse themselves in a petting zoo, mask making, pony rides, and much more. The best part? All Kid Zone activities are free with the price of admission, so get ready to run to all the booths to fit in as many activities as you can.

Families can enjoy the Pumpkin Stage, where you can see a magic show, take part in a princess party, and watch a juggler. These events happen twice throughout the day, so if you can't make the first one, don't stress. You'll have one more opportunity!

If you're worried you'll miss the game, Abita Fall Fest thought of everything. Find your way to the Tiger Tailgate to cheer on the Tigers. Visit their activities page to read about more activity areas including a wine garden, cuisine, harvest matchup, and more.
