Eat Crawfish for a Cause at Crawfete This Sunday in Baton Rouge
Crawfish season is officially in full swing, and if you’ve been looking for the perfect way to enjoy this beautiful spring weather, Baton Rouge has something pretty special happening this Sunday.
Crawfete is back on Sunday, March 22 from 2–5 pm at Live Oak at Cedar Lodge, bringing together some of the area’s best restaurants, crawfish boilers, and beverage makers for an afternoon dedicated to Louisiana’s most beloved seasonal tradition.
Think piles of crawfish, live music, cold drinks, and a whole lot of friendly competition.
One of the highlights of Crawfete every year is the crawfish competition itself. Local chefs and boilers bring their best recipes hoping to take home bragging rights for Best Boiled Crawfish or Best Crawfish Dish. In past years, the competition has produced some seriously creative takes on crawfish—from perfectly seasoned traditional boils to inventive dishes that show just how versatile this Louisiana staple can be.
Guests don’t just watch the competition—they help decide it. Attendees get to taste their way around the event and cast votes alongside a panel of judges, making the entire afternoon feel like one big crawfish tasting tour.
This year’s event also features a special guest in the culinary world. Roshni Mansukhani, known to many as Chef Rosh, will be on-site hosting a live crawfish cooking demonstration. Watching a Food Network chef break down techniques and share ideas for cooking crawfish adds another layer of fun for anyone who loves food—or just loves learning a new trick for the next backyard boil.
Of course, crawfish isn’t the only thing on the menu. Restaurants, caterers, and food vendors from around the city will be serving creative crawfish dishes and Louisiana-inspired bites throughout the afternoon. Familiar Baton Rouge names like Tony's Seafood, Superior Grill, Ruffino's, and Mansurs on the Boulevard are just a few of the participants bringing their flavors to the festival.
Add in craft beverages, cocktails, and plenty of local drink vendors, and you’ve got the kind of Sunday afternoon that’s made for wandering, tasting, and enjoying the outdoors.
The Blue Crab Redemption Band will be providing live music throughout the event, keeping the atmosphere lively while guests eat, sip, and socialize under the oaks at Cedar Lodge.
And while Crawfete is all about celebrating Louisiana food culture, the event also has a deeper purpose. Proceeds support the work of the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving childhood nutrition, education, and food security across the Baton Rouge community.
So yes—you’ll leave full of crawfish. But you’ll also be supporting programs that help make a real difference locally.
With great weather in the forecast, a lineup of some of Baton Rouge’s best food talent, and more crawfish than you could possibly eat in one afternoon, Crawfete is shaping up to be one of those classic spring Sundays in the capital city.
All that’s left to do is grab a ticket, bring a few friends, and get ready to start peeling.
