There are only a handful of weeks each year when Louisiana gives us the perfect excuse to dine outdoors.

The temperatures are warm enough to enjoy a cocktail outside, but the peak summer humidity hasn't completely taken over. Before long, we'll all be searching for the closest table indoors, making right now one of the best times of the year to experience Baton Rouge's patio scene.

Whether you're planning a date night, meeting coworkers for happy hour, or gathering friends for dinner, there are plenty of restaurants that make outdoor dining worth lingering a little longer.

Tsunami

Few patios can compete with the rooftop views at Tsunami. Overlooking the Mississippi River and downtown Baton Rouge, it's one of the city's best places to catch a sunset while enjoying sushi and handcrafted cocktails. If you're looking to impress someone or celebrate a special occasion, this is hard to beat.

SoLou

SoLou's spacious patio has quickly become a local favorite. The garage doors open to blend the indoor and outdoor spaces, creating the perfect setting for brunch, happy hour, or a relaxed dinner with friends. Pair Southern inspired dishes with one of their signature cocktails, and you've got a recipe for a great evening.

Barracuda Taco Stand

If your perfect evening includes tacos and margaritas, Barracuda's outdoor patio is calling your name. Their laid back atmosphere, walk-up ordering, and vibrant outdoor seating make it one of the most enjoyable casual patios in the city.

Mid City Beer Garden

Sometimes you just want to relax with a cold drink and good company. Mid City Beer Garden offers one of Baton Rouge's most unique outdoor spaces with its lush greenery, expansive patio, and impressive beer selection. It's equally great for catching up with friends or watching a game.

The Chimes

An LSU favorite for decades, The Chimes' rooftop patio remains one of the best places to enjoy Louisiana classics while overlooking Highland Road. Whether it's game day or a quiet weeknight, the rooftop always delivers a memorable atmosphere.

BLDG 5

Nestled beneath the Perkins Road Overpass, BLDG 5 combines fresh, seasonal food with one of the city's most inviting patios. It's a hidden gem for lunch meetings, coffee dates, or evenings spent enjoying the outdoors.

Make the Most of Patio Season

One of the best parts about dining outside is that it naturally encourages you to slow down. Order another round. Split dessert. Stay for one more conversation.

Summer schedules fill up quickly, but evenings like these are what Louisiana is all about.

So this weekend, skip the drive thru, call a few friends, and grab a table outside while the weather is still on your side.

After all, patio season may be short, but the memories made around those tables tend to last a whole lot longer.
