Inside the Spice Affair Supper Club: A Night That Felt Like Home
Some dining experiences feed you. Others stay with you.
Spice Affair Supper Club did both.
I recently had the chance to finally attend Spice Affair Supper Club, an intimate Indian fusion dining experience hosted in Rick and Needhi Patel’s home, and from the moment I walked through the door, I knew this night was going to be special.
The first thing that hit me wasn’t the food. It was the smell. Their home was filled with the most intoxicating aroma from their candle brand, Aromatic Aura. Warm, inviting, and comforting in a way that instantly makes you exhale. It set the tone before a single plate ever touched the table. By the end of the night, they passed around several different scents and invited guests to take one home, and I was genuinely thrilled to be able to bring a little piece of the evening with me.
Being welcomed into their home while their family moved through the kitchen preparing each course made the experience feel deeply personal. This wasn’t a restaurant setting. It felt like being invited into someone’s story. Comfortable, intentional, and filled with heart.
The evening unfolded as a beautifully paced five course meal, with each dish introduced and explained before being served. Rick and Needhi shared how everything was prepared, the cultural significance behind it, and even how you’re meant to eat each dish. Those details elevated every bite. You weren’t just eating, you were learning and connecting.
Each course was paired with a wine or cocktail thoughtfully curated by Rick, while Needhi and Rick’s mom worked side by side in the kitchen, carefully executing all five courses. You could feel the love, pride, and teamwork behind every plate.
What stood out most, though, was the sense of connection. By the end of the night, strangers had become friends. Numbers were exchanged, conversations lingered, and no one seemed eager to leave. It felt like exactly what a supper club should be.
Spice Affair Supper Club also has an upcoming fully vegetarian dinner, and if you think vegetarian means missing something, this menu will absolutely change your mind. The focus is Kathiyawadi cuisine, the bold, rustic food of Gujarat, Rick and Needhi’s hometown, making this dinner especially meaningful for their family to share.
This is the kind of vegetarian food where even meat lovers don’t miss the meat. Slow cooked vegetables, smoky spices, ghee, chutneys, crispy textures, every course is designed to surprise and indulge. This isn’t just vegetarian.
This is vegetarian indulgence, Kathiyawadi style.
Spice Affair Supper Club isn’t just about food. It’s about hospitality, heritage, and the kind of night that stays with you long after the table is cleared.
