Mid City’s Annual Food Festival Returns March 22 to Benefit Kids’ Orchestra
Baton Rouge’s Mid City neighborhood is once again preparing to celebrate one of its most anticipated community gatherings of the year as the Taste of Mid City BR Food Festival returns on March 22. From 1 to 5 p.m., local residents, families, and food lovers will gather at The Executive Center for an afternoon dedicated to great food, live entertainment, and supporting a meaningful cause in the community.
The annual festival brings together a wide range of area restaurants and chefs who will offer tasting samples throughout the event. Guests will have the opportunity to experience dishes from some of the region’s favorite kitchens while discovering new flavors and local culinary talent along the way. The event is designed to highlight the diverse food culture that makes the Mid City area such an important part of Baton Rouge’s dining scene.
While food is the centerpiece of the festival, the event is designed to be much more than a tasting event. Organizers have built the day around a family-friendly atmosphere where guests of all ages can participate. Live music will play throughout the afternoon, creating a relaxed backdrop as attendees move through the festival grounds sampling food and visiting different vendors.
Families attending the event will find a variety of activities designed specifically for younger guests. The Kids Zone will feature games, hands-on activities, and a visit from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Bookmobile, giving children the opportunity to explore books and interactive learning experiences during the festival. Additional interactive elements and activities will be spread throughout the event to keep both kids and adults engaged throughout the day.
Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to participate in a drawing for prizes during the event, adding another layer of excitement for attendees as they enjoy the afternoon.
Beyond the food, music, and activities, Taste of Mid City serves an important purpose in the Baton Rouge community. Proceeds from the event benefit Kids' Orchestra, an organization dedicated to expanding access to music education for young people across the area. Kids’ Orchestra works with students throughout East Baton Rouge Parish to provide high-quality music instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities.
Through its programs, Kids’ Orchestra aims to build a community of creative, confident, and socially engaged students by giving them the opportunity to learn and grow through music. The organization provides instruments, instruction, and structured programming that help young musicians develop both artistic and personal skills that carry into their education and everyday lives.
Events like Taste of Mid City play an important role in helping sustain these programs by bringing the community together in support of the organization’s mission. By attending the festival, guests are directly contributing to opportunities that help local students access music education and creative development.
Taste of Mid City continues to grow each year as both a food-focused event and a community celebration. With local restaurants, family activities, live entertainment, and a charitable mission at its core, the festival offers an opportunity for Baton Rouge residents to experience the best of what the Mid City community has to offer while supporting a cause that impacts young people across the parish.
The Taste of Mid City BR Food Festival will take place Sunday, March 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Executive Center.
