Grab your favorite red dress because it is time to get running! The annual event in New Orleans is right around the corner. Traditionally held on the second Saturday in August, the 2024 Red Dress Run takes off on August 10th, sponsored by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers.

The exact location of where the race begins is only announced to those who register, so make sure you click the link below and get your spot. This global tradition has deep roots that extend much further than New Orleans. In 1987, the first Red Dress Run began in San Diego with the San Diego Hash House Harriers. Now, you can expect to see everyone you know each year for the New Orleans run. The New Orleans run is organized by NOH3 and brings in participants from all over the globe.

Top Things to Know (In Our Opinion)

Beer starts flowing early, so start at your own discretion! According to Experience New Orleans, there are a few crucial things you must know. First, wearing your red dress is an absolute must. And if you are thinking about wearing the same dress you did last year, forget it. It is considered bad practice! Luckily, there is a red dress swap.

We have a few tips of our own too! The next thing to remember is it will be hot! It is a Louisiana August, of course. Make sure to fit water into your routine throughout the day. Also, bring a small hand towel in your fanny pack (yes, we recommend this too) to wipe off with!

Another pro tip is don't forget closed-toe shoes. We know it might not go with your outfit, but you'll thank us after you walk/run a 5(ish)k through New Orleans.

Our last tip? HAVE FUN!
