Downtown nights don't have to end at a bar stool on Third Street. Down by the river at 103 France Street, Bally's Baton Rouge has built a small cluster of after-dark spots inside the casino, and a couple of them have nothing to do with slot machines.
Two Lanes and a Drink
Pelican Pins is the casino's two-lane bowling alley, styled with a retro look and pitched for date nights and small groups. Two lanes means it's a cozy setup rather than a league night, so it works best as a warm-up round before dinner or a nightcap.
The Barge
The centerpiece bar on the property is The Barge, pouring handcrafted cocktails, local beers and seasonal drinks, with big screens overhead. Those screens make it a workable downtown spot to catch a game over a drink.
Music Through the Weekend
Every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight, a live DJ plays on the casino floor. Two free shows are also on the books at the DraftKings Sportsbook this month:
Friday, Nov. 6, 9 p.m. to midnight: Party @ Joe's
Friday, Nov. 13, 9 p.m. to midnight: True Spin
Both are listed as free live music, so there's no ticket to buy ahead of time. Check the casino's entertainment calendar for later November dates as they're added.
