Baton Rouge is getting an early start on football season this weekend with the 8th Annual Ultimate Tailgate at Perkins Rowe.

Hosted by Sweet Baton Rouge, the annual event returns Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., bringing a full day of local shopping, food and plenty of Louisiana tailgate spirit to Perkins Rowe.

Guests can shop from a lineup of Louisiana vendors and local businesses throughout the day, but one of the biggest draws is the event’s Jambalaya Cook-Off. Jambalaya tasting begins around noon, giving attendees the chance to sample some local cooking while supporting a good cause. Proceeds from food ticket sales will benefit The Petey’s Scholarship.

The Ultimate Tailgate has become a fun way for Baton Rouge to kick off the fall season before Saturdays are completely taken over by football. Whether you’re looking to update your purple and gold wardrobe, shop local, grab a bite or just get excited for the season ahead, there will be plenty happening throughout the day.
