There’s nothing quite like walking into the first day of school with a fresh hairstyle and a little extra confidence.

Hair Queen Beauty Salon helped make that possible for local kids during its annual Braid-A-Thon, bringing together braiders, barbers, families, and members of the Baton Rouge community for a day centered around giving back.

The event provided free haircuts and hairstyles for children preparing to head back to school, with local beauty professionals volunteering their time and talents to make sure kids could start the new school year looking and feeling their best.

Throughout the event, chairs stayed busy as braiders and barbers transformed fresh cuts, braids, and styles into plenty of smiles.

This year’s Braid-A-Thon also welcomed young entrepreneur Nova Starr, who participated with a special product giveaway for attendees, adding another local connection to the day.

More than just a back-to-school beauty event, the Braid-A-Thon is an example of what can happen when local businesses and community members use what they do best to help the people around them.
