The table is the star of Thanksgiving. HighlandSide wants to help you set it.
The gift and home shop at 17732 Highland Road has spent more than 25 years helping Baton Rouge shoppers find presents, party goods and personal touches, and right now its shelves are turning toward the holidays.
## A homecoming that became a shop
Shannan Everett and her mom opened HighlandSide in October 1999. Shannan had been a Delta flight attendant based in New York and wanted to come home to Baton Rouge to be closer to family. The name comes from its spot on the side of historic Highland Road.
## Set the Thanksgiving table
The fall and Thanksgiving collection covers hosts and guests alike. Pick up pumpkin-handled bamboo picks for $7.95, a Pumpkin Topiary Tray and Tidbit Set for $47.95, or a 10-pack of Eat, Drink and Be Thankful frosted cups for $29.95. A Thanksgiving kids table setting bundle runs $19.95.
## Mahjong, Tiger style
Mahjong fans get a whole section. LSU loyalists can grab a 31-inch Tiger mahjong mat for $89.95 or a matching Tiger mahjong tablecloth for $69.95, and a mahjong holiday ornament is $24.95.
## Make it personal
Monogramming starts at $15 per item, with an extra $5 for items bought elsewhere. Robes, totes, towels, stuffed animals and baby gifts are all fair game, though leather is not. Orders usually take a few business days, and full-priced items purchased in the store are gift wrapped for free.
HighlandSide also handles invitations, custom napkins and cups, and gift registries for showers and weddings.
