Summer in Baton Rouge brings plenty of opportunities to stay busy. There are pool days, road trips, camps, sports, and endless attempts to find something fun to do when the temperatures climb. For local teens looking to stay active this summer without spending money, Planet Fitness has a pretty incredible offer.

The fitness chain recently announced the return of its High School Summer Pass program, giving teens ages 14 through 19 free access to any participating Planet Fitness location from June 1 through August 31.

That means an entire summer of workouts, fitness classes, cardio equipment, strength training, and gym access without paying a membership fee.

For many teens, cost is one of the biggest obstacles when it comes to fitness. According to a recent Planet Fitness study, nearly half of teenagers say they cannot afford to make fitness a priority, while 83 percent say they would work out at a gym if it were free.

This program removes that barrier completely.

Even better, today's gyms are becoming much more than places to exercise. They are spaces where friends meet up, goals are set, confidence is built, and healthy habits begin.

Research conducted by Planet Fitness found that 95 percent of teens say exercise helps them manage life's challenges. More than half reported feeling more confident after working out, while two thirds said exercise makes them feel proud of themselves.

That matters during the summer months when school sports, physical education classes, and after school activities are often on pause.

Participants will have access to strength training equipment, cardio machines, stretching areas, free fitness training, and hundreds of digital workouts through the Planet Fitness app. This year's program also includes exclusive discounts from Gymshark.

The initiative has already made a massive impact nationwide. Since launching in 2019, millions of teens have participated, with Planet Fitness investing hundreds of millions of dollars in waived membership dues to help young people build healthier lifestyles.

Of course, not every teenager dreams of spending hours in a gym. The beauty of the program is that fitness looks different for everyone. Maybe it is lifting weights with friends. Maybe it is walking on a treadmill while listening to music. Maybe it is simply finding an active way to spend an afternoon instead of scrolling through a phone.

Summer tends to fly by. Before long, school schedules return and calendars fill back up. The High School Summer Pass offers teens a chance to try something new, stay active, build confidence, and create healthy habits that can last long after summer ends.

For Baton Rouge families searching for affordable ways to keep teens engaged this season, free is tough to beat.

Registration is now open, and teens can sign up before heading to their local Planet Fitness for a summer full of movement, motivation, and maybe even a little fun along the way.
