Bowling is one of the few nights out in Baton Rouge where a quarter still buys something. At All Star Lanes on Airline Highway, there's a deal on the schedule every day of the week, and most of them are aimed at stretching a small budget into a long night.
A few ground rules first: the daily specials are walk-in only, can't be combined with reservations and don't apply on holidays.
Sunday through Thursday
Sundays start cheap, with games at $1.49 per person from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Monday is 90's Night from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Games, shoe rental, small fries, nachos, medium sodas and cheeseburger or chicken sliders are $1.90 each, with '90s music on the speakers.
Tuesday's Quarter Night runs 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. After a $10 cover, bowling games, shoe rental and 16-ounce sodas are 25 cents each, and 9-ounce Bud Light and Budweiser drafts are 25 cents from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Wednesday is College Night, though no student ID is required: $6 gets three games plus shoes, extra games are $1, and $8 domestic pitchers, $8 large one-topping pizzas and $5 five-piece wing baskets round it out.
Thursday's Ladies Night lets women bowl unlimited games for $5 with shoes, while men pay $10.
Family time and the weekend
During the day, the Family Special covers two hours of bowling for up to six people on a lane, plus shoes, a large bag of popcorn and a pitcher of soda for $60. Swap the popcorn for a large one-topping pizza with the $72 Pizza Bowl.
Friday evenings from 5 p.m. bring Prime Time packages from $70 to $85 per lane, with popcorn, pizza or sliders and fries. Saturday nights from 6 p.m. turn the lanes over to Cosmic Chaos.
All Star Lanes is at 9829 Airline Highway and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Check the specials page before you go.
