Holiday shopping with a conscience gets a lot easier when the store itself is the good deed. Rosalie's Boutique, at 5555 Government St., is the first upscale resale shop from St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge, and it has quietly become one of Mid City's more interesting places to browse.
A different kind of thrift store
St. Vincent de Paul has run thrift stores in the Capital Region for years, but Rosalie's was built with a sharper focus. The racks lean toward vintage and collectible apparel for both men and women, and the floor mixes in distinctive home decor and one-of-a-kind pieces you are not going to find at the mall. Think statement jackets, a lamp with some personality, or a serving piece that ends up on the Thanksgiving table.
The boutique celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting on May 16, 2026, led by St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge President and CEO Sunnie Johnson-Lain, with community supporters and local leaders on hand.
Where your money goes
This is the part that makes a purchase feel good. Sales at Rosalie's help fund the services St. Vincent de Paul provides across Baton Rouge, including daily meals, clothing assistance, family shelter and access to life-saving medications through its Community Pharmacy. The organization's Dining Room on St. Vincent de Paul Drive serves a meal every day of the week.
When to go
Rosalie's is open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. Those later weekend hours make it an easy stop before dinner in Mid City.
If you want more ground to cover, St. Vincent de Paul also operates thrift stores on Staring Lane in Baton Rouge and in Gonzales and Hammond.
Gift lists are about to get long. Start this one at Rosalie's, and let a vintage find do some good on its way home with you.
