Southern basketball fans will need a little patience this fall. Both Jaguar teams open 2026-27 with long road trips against Division I programs from across the country, so the few home dates at the F.G. Clark Activity Center before New Year's are worth planning around.
Men's home games
Head coach Kevin Johnson's team opens with five straight road games, starting Nov. 2 at SMU and running through Nov. 12 at Minnesota, with stops at TCU, Drake and Iowa State in between.
The Jaguars come home on Tuesday, Nov. 17, to face Louisiana Christian University at 11 a.m. for the first field trip day game. They're back on Tuesday, Dec. 1, against Champion Christian College, also at 11 a.m. for field trip day game 2. The last non-conference home game is Monday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. against Southern University at New Orleans, a nice holiday-break outing for families.
In between, the men visit Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Fresno State, Oregon, Pacific and California. SWAC play opens on the road Jan. 2 at Texas Southern, and the home conference debut is Saturday, Jan. 9, against Florida A&M, followed by Bethune-Cookman on Jan. 11 and Grambling State on Jan. 16.
Women's home games
The women's home opener is Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. against Louisiana Christian University. After that, the road schedule includes a trip to Notre Dame, games against Syracuse and Auburn in San Juan, Puerto Rico, then Oregon State, Oregon, Colorado State, Washington and Iowa. They return to Baton Rouge on Sunday, Dec. 20, to host the University of Mobile.
January brings a busy stretch at home: Bethune-Cookman on Jan. 7 at 6 p.m., Florida A&M on Jan. 9 at 2:30 p.m., Grambling State on Jan. 16 at noon and Jackson State on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m.
Plan your trip to The Bluff
Schedules and ticket information are posted at gojagsports.com, and times can still change, so check before you head out. Grab some blue and gold, bring the kids and give both teams a loud welcome home.
