Get ready to break out the lederhosen and raise a stein because Oktoberfest is returning to Baton Rouge this October.

The Louisiana Restaurant Association’s Greater Baton Rouge Chapter is bringing back its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux on Burbank Drive. This year marks the fifth annual Baton Rouge Oktoberfest, and it also falls during LSU Homecoming Weekend, making it an easy addition to a full weekend of celebrating in Baton Rouge.

Guests can expect an afternoon filled with German-inspired food, cold drinks, live music, games and plenty of Oktoberfest spirit. Local restaurants will be serving their own takes on German-inspired dishes, while beer and other alcohol tastings will keep the celebration going throughout the afternoon. Additional drinks will also be available for purchase.

And this isn’t just about the food. Local favorite Pants Party will provide live entertainment beginning shortly after the gates open, and the afternoon will include Oktoberfest traditions like a stein-holding competition and costume contest. Guests are encouraged to show up in their Oktoberfest best, whether that means lederhosen, a dirndl or simply coming ready for a good time.

The event will also give attendees a chance to have a say in the food competition. Voting for the People’s Choice Best German Dish is scheduled to take place during the event, adding a little friendly competition among the participating restaurants.

Beyond being a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, Oktoberfest is also a fundraiser supporting the Louisiana Restaurant Association’s work within the restaurant and hospitality industry. The LRA represents thousands of restaurant operations and related hospitality businesses across Louisiana, with regional chapters helping connect and support the industry throughout the state.

This year’s event is expected to draw a crowd, with the LRA’s sponsorship information noting an anticipated audience of more than 500 local attendees. Sponsorship proceeds help fund LRA programs, including the LRA Education Foundation and other industry initiatives.

Oktoberfest is a 21-and-older event, and free parking will be available at Walk-On’s. Tickets include entry to the event, German-inspired food tastings from participating restaurants, alcohol tastings, live entertainment and Oktoberfest activities.

After a Saturday of LSU Homecoming festivities, Sunday is looking like the perfect opportunity to keep the weekend going with local food, drinks and a little German flair.
